Carmen Campos

A project management consultant with expertise in APM courses and bespoke project management training development and delivery. Carmen is passionate about project management and supporting project professionals in their learning and development journey. She fully understands the demands and dedication required to successfully obtain APM qualifications and coaches individuals at all levels from PFQ and PMQ right up to ChPP level. Prior to becoming a training consultant, she had 14 years’ experience managing multinational complex engineering projects for several industries such as global chemical manufacturing, wind energy, welding inspection, and automation technologies for bioprocessing and laboratory applications.

  • Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering
  • APM ChPP Chartered Project Professional
  • APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ)
  • APM Project Management Qualification (PFQ)
  • APM Member

As part of my current role as a training consultant, I felt that my personal experience of gaining chartered status would enable me to help other people to growth in their project management careers. Becoming a ChPP has given me an opportunity to make a difference and help people to progress professionally. It allows me to be part of their development journey through all the levels and qualifications from Project Fundamental (PFQ) and Project Management Qualification (PMQ) and up to ChPP level. Going through the process myself has also taught me the commitment and dedication required to successfully pass, which serves me well when trying to coach and support others to obtain ChPP in the future.

Gemma VareGemma Vare ★★★★★ Great course provider and great trainer Tyrone, have learnt so much in 5 weeks!Grace BillsGrace Bills ★★★★★ Highly recommended Parallel Project Training. Carmen is a fantastic trainer, she is able to guide you through the training in a friendly and welcome manner, she takes the qualification and puts it into bite size chunks to make it digestible over the 5 weeks. Thanks for all your help!Sam HillsSam Hills ★★★★★ Would highly recommend using Parallel Project Training. They have supported me in my journey to achieving my APM PMQ.The presentations and podcasts that they provide are informative and easy to understand. Compared to other training providers they are also one of the cheapest around.AaronAaron ★★★★★ Excellent course and really well led by Tyrone. Great method of getting the key information across and really informative.Richard NurseRichard Nurse ★★★★☆ APM PMQA well run and thought through course. The online portal, with videos and learning material was a great benefit along side the teams sessions. Our trainer, Carmen, was very knowledgeable and helpful. She put time aside to help answer questions, review work of our allotted sessions which was really appreciated.A slight frustration for me was that the paper work didn't always match the slides we were looking at, and the study guide arrived after our first days learning. But overall a very well run course. Many thanks,RichardRico CraigieRico Craigie ★★★★★ Amazing course and highly recommended. Carmen was very knowledgeable and easy to understand in order to pass the APM PMQ exam.Tom MurphyTom Murphy ★★★★★ Excellent training delivered by Paul Naybour; would recommend to anyone pursuing APM qualificationsNosherwan AliNosherwan Ali ★★★★★ I can highly recommend Parallel Project training for the preparation of the APM certification. The trainer are highly skilled and take huge effort in working with each individual to prepare for the exam (Thank you Carmen for you huge support and going the extra mile!). Their online platform includes very helpful videos and their prep questions trains you well for the assessment criteria.Absolute worth it!Ben DoughtyBen Doughty ★★★★☆ I complete the APM Project Fundamentals Qualification through online webinars and exam. The learning materials were high quality and delivery was very professional. The tutor was extremely well prepared and use analogies, case studies and real world examples to help make the course engaging. If you want to get an APM Fundamentals Certificate and your company uses the APM system for project management, then this course is a good introduction. However, the content is largely about the APM words for different aspects of project management and you are tested, not on your PM skill, but your ability to remember a specific set of terminology. This led to a lot of "teaching to exam" rather than developing any skills. This course lacks depth and does not develop Project Management skills.Christopher GreenChristopher Green ★★★☆☆ I completed the APM qualification 5 days over 5 weeks and I found this to be better way due to work commitments etc. Our trainer Carmen was very knowledgeable and I found the first 4 days of the course very beneficial. Unfortunately the final day which was used for revision didn't suit my learning style and I came away feeling more unprepared. Instead of going over all the content we have already learnt and answering any questions we just kept going over 'possible' questions and answers which really didn't work for me. I also found the exam questions to be very different to the ones we have spent time on practicing, so again seemed like a waste.Thomas MadathiparampilThomas Madathiparampil ★★★★★ Attended the APM PFQ training & certification - One of the best trainings I have been in, the instructor (Jan Underdown) was very knowledgeable on the subjects due to her immense real-life experience in project management, very articulate and took time to ensure everyone understood the concepts.Nicola EvansNicola Evans ★★★★★ Parallel Project Training provide a well-structured course, enabling an in depth understanding of project management methodologies, structures and challenges to overcome. The tutor (Jan Underdown) balanced the course well and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The online service is exceptional!Leigh HaywoodLeigh Haywood ★★★★★ Would highly recommend this course. Very well led, Jan skill fully balanced the breadth of syllabus in a pace that was manageable for the 5 week course.Amanda LAmanda L ★★★★★ Brilliant. Great support and presented very wellMartyna MasiewiczMartyna Masiewicz ★★☆☆☆ The APM Project Fundamentals Qualification (PFQ) course was very chaotic to say the least. The training provider spent way too much time making kitchen analogy to illustrate structural breakdown and then ended up rushing through the rest of the course and I feel like she missed important bits that we were asked about in the exam.Rebecca UnwinRebecca Unwin ★★★★★ Took the virtual APM PMQ 6-week course with Paul Naybour. The course was conveniently timed to fit around the day job. Paul is hugely knowledgeable and supportive, teaching both PM principles and exam technique. Highly recommend to others with or without previous project management experience.Jon CumminsJon Cummins ★★★★★ Fantastic quality training by excellent tutors. Highly recommended.Mr JonesMr Jones ★★★★★ Parallel training is an exemplary company, from the customer service, to the study material, and the course itself.Fully recommend, thank you Michelle and Paul.Cam WoodhouseCam Woodhouse ★★★★★ I heartily recommend Parallel's APM PMQ 8 week virtual course. Its not an easy exam, however the tutors at Parallel ensure you have the knowledge and tips to pass. The tips and advice on how to pass the exam were invaluable and compliment the online lessons, text books, podcasts and homework.Karolis SerenasKarolis Serenas ★★★★★ I've done the self study course for the APM PMQ certification. The study guide from parallel was pretty comprehensive and sample exam questions and answers really help in rounding out the full understanding of the exam. They also provide podcasts and video lessons. And they mark your sample answers on their online platform.I've had 2 webinars with Paul and he was really helpful at explaining how to answer the exam questions and great at running the webinars (quite funny too). In the end I passed my PMQ and would recommend this provider. But to anyone doing the course it is quite difficult if you do it as self study. I would definitely advise to go for a tutor led course if possible.Saad JanjuaSaad Janjua ★★★★★ Excellent service provided. The trainers are qualified and well informed. I would recommend.Victoria OddieVictoria Oddie ★★★★★ Very Professional and supportive organisation - coached me through my ChPP and I passed!Richard SayellRichard Sayell ★★★★☆ Very professional and thorough preparation given to me as part of a successful ChPP application process to the APM. Thank you for the support and guidance in the overall process.Costanza BellingeriCostanza Bellingeri ★★★★★ I took an APM PMQ course through Parallel in the past few weeks and I was very happy about the quality of the training material (varied and suitable for all kinds of learning. There were videos, podcasts, printed material). I was especially impressed by the ability of the instructor, she was engaging, organized and super efficient, which helped me as well with my mental organization for the exam.Highly recommended!siris sirissiris siris ★★★★★ Paul Naybour is an amazing tutor and explained the concepts very well and given continued support through out the course duration. The 6 week course of APM PMQ helped quite alot to manage office work, personal life balance and course study. The weekly assignments through out the course study helped to understand the contents much better. Thank you so much for all your help.Ben HeathBen Heath ★★★★★ I have just completed the PMQ qualification over 10 weeks. I found studying using this format really beneficial as it gave more time to really understand the content and prepare for the exam. I would recommend Parallel Training to anyone who is looking for a training provider to study the APM qualifications with.Deborah MottaDeborah Motta ★★★☆☆ The training was fantastic but the mock up didn't help at all.The exam questions are way more difficult.I completely disagree with the statement on the APM page: "No prior knowledge or experience is required for this qualification".Irine CheptooIrine Cheptoo ★★★★★ Good training service offered for professionals. Would 100% recommend.Shane MussellShane Mussell ★★★★★ Great packages available and very well ran with lots of useful feedback throughout. Highly recommended and yes I'll be back for more :)Sharon HerkesSharon Herkes ★★★★★ I'm always sceptical about online reviews of companies but the reviews for Parallel Project Training convinced me to opt for them and I'm very glad I did. The course trainer, Michelle Greaves, was excellent and delivered the online course extremely well. I did the PMQ spread over three weeks to give myself more time to absorb the information. It was well paced, clearly communicated and she used real world examples to help you understand the concepts you were learning. She made the sessions very inclusive in a way that enabled her to check our understanding and to pick up any areas we needed to focus on. From the beginning of the course she guided us in terms of exam technique and how we needed to answer questions which was very helpful for someone who's not taken an exam in over 20 years! The speed with which she turned around our practice assignments was impressive and her feedback really helped with understanding what needed improvement. I'd definitely recommend the company and, in particular, choosing a course delivered by Michelle!Heather MccraeHeather Mccrae ★★★★★ Thanks John for all the support and training provided, I am pleased to comment the delivery method was excellent and all via on-line. I appreciated the fast turnaround of feedback, coaching and support provided throughout the process. I would strongly recommend this to others.T TilaT Tila ★★★★★ Great course, provided in a professional and easy to navigate platform with forums to ask questions and feedback.Rob MashfordRob Mashford ★★★★★ Parallel Project training were employed by my employer to support me through the ChPP application. Great support through what could have been a challenging and complex process. All carried out virtually which saved a lot of travel time.Mike FossMike Foss ★★★★★ Achieved by ChPP accrediation first time...with excellent support from PPT. Thanksjs_loader
About Liverpool

About Liverpool

The fifth most populous city in England, Liverpool, is located on the North-west coast of the UK. In its heyday, the city was a thriving industrial port. Nowadays, it is the main gateway for cruise ships. The city is well known as the birthplace of The Beatles, arguably the most influential band of all time. Its stunning and varied architecture includes The Liver Building at the Pier Head and its two Cathedrals. It is a very accessible location making it a good choice for a range of project management training courses.

Transport

Liverpool John Lennon Airport is considered to be one of the major transport hubs in the Northwest, it is connected to over 70 destinations in Europe, Africa and across the UK, and a short bus ride makes it easy to get from the airport to the city centre. The main train station in Liverpool is the Iconic Liverpool Lime Street Station which is a central hub for trains from all over the country, there are regular trains from Birmingham, Newcastle, Manchester and London, to name just a few. Liverpool is also easy to get to by car with some very good motorway links: the M60 links Liverpool to Manchester, and from the M60, it is linked to the south via the M5 and the north via the M6. Within Liverpool city centre there is a comprehensive public transport network that makes getting around very easy.

Where to Stay

With many project management courses lasting several days, finding somewhere close by to stay is a necessity. Fortunately, Liverpool has plenty of fantastic four-star hotels to offer.

Innside by Melia, 43 Old Hall St, Liverpool L3 9PP

This incredibly contemporary hotel is superbly located in the centre of the city and just a short walk from the iconic Liver Building. All of the rooms are decorated in a modern, stylish manner and have all of the amenities you would expect from a hotel of this calibre. There is an onsite restaurant, and a business centre, and the hotel also offers a range of meeting rooms. Whilst there is no parking available at this hotel, it is well placed for one of Liverpool’s 4 underground train stations, making it a very good choice for those arriving by plane or train.

Titanic Hotel, Stanley Dock, Regent Rd, Liverpool L3 0AN

Another city centre hotel, The Titanic Hotel is a very modern one, offering a great base in the heart of the city. It is located on Stanley Dock, and despite its city centre location, this hotel does offer parking facilities for its guests, it also has some accessible parking and electric car charging points. For those who prefer not to drive in the city centre, it is also close enough to great public transport links. The hotel itself has plenty of facilities, from a wellness centre to a business centre for any essential work you may need to do during your project management course.

Seel Street Hotel by EPIC, 42 Seel St, Liverpool L1 4AU

If you are looking for a hotel in the heart of the city where accessibility is not a problem, then Seel Steet Hotel by EPIC is the ideal option. The hotel is close to all the necessary transport links and also offers some parking for its guests. In addition to a lift, they have a number of rooms that have been specifically designed to be more accessible for those guests with mobility issues. This hotel does not have meeting rooms for hire but makes an ideal base for staying in whilst on a training course in Liverpool.

Meeting rooms suitable for courses in Liverpool

Two of the hotels we have mentioned have large meeting room facilities that are available to hire for training courses. Whilst staying and attending a training course in the same hotel can be useful many people prefer to keep the two separate, and there are plenty of meeting rooms that can be hired in Liverpool.

Clockwise

Clockwise are a company which specialises in meeting rooms for hire all over the country. They have a number of Liverpool city-centre locations that are ideal for project management training courses and can accommodate small or large groups of attendees. All of their facilities are modern, bright and spacious and offer all of the equipment necessary to undertake a training course successfully.

Regus

Another company specialising in meeting rooms, Rebus, has four different sized meeting rooms in the city centre that make a great location for your training needs. Three of them are in the heart of the city whilst the 4th is located a little way out. 301 Tea Factory, is a very modern space with an industrial vibe. Clean, uncluttered spaces and contemporary furniture, together with a good range of all the technical equipment necessary for meeting and training courses, are provided as standard.

Things To Do

f your project management training courses in Liverpool last a couple of days or more, then you may want to take advantage of some of the nightlife that Liverpool is famous for.

Restaurants

With its rich and varied history as a port city, it comes as no surprise that Liverpool offers an incredibly wide range of different cuisines. In fact, Liverpool is home to the oldest China town in Europe, so you will certainly want to consider visiting one of the well-established restaurants.

It may surprise you to know that there are, in fact, no Michelin star restaurants in Liverpool. However, this is not to say that there are some restaurants serving incredible food that are well worth a visit. Of particular note is Roski Restaurant on Rodney Street. The restaurant serves modern British cuisine in the form of tasting menus full of smaller dishes made using locally sourced ingredients. The Art School on Sugnall Street is also worth a visit. This is a restaurant with a commitment to sustainable gastronomy. The dishes are modern and full of contrasts of texture and colour. The restaurant offers three different types of menus with a style to suit every palate.

Entertainment

No visit to Liverpool is truly complete without a trip to The Cavern. Possibly the most famous club in the world, The Cavern is host to a diverse range of music from midday until 11 pm every day, acts include local bands as well as plenty of tribute bands to the city’s greatest export, The Beatles.

Liverpool is also known for its association with the wonderful game of golf, so for something a little different, why not check out Ghetto Golf? This crazy alternative evening entertainment will see you trying to put your way around the most unusual crazy indoor course you will ever encounter with a drink in hand.
