APM Chartered Project Professional – 2 Day Workshop

The Association for Project Management (APM) is the Chartered Body for the project management profession in the UK. For those individuals who wish to demonstrate their pre-eminence in the profession and as a person who is competent at what they do, the attainment of Chartered Project Professional (ChPP) will be the pinnacle of their career. To do so they will need to show they are competent against a number of competencies, they adopt an ethical approach and have the requisite professional practice to draw on. To help this along, Parallel have created this course to help those candidates navigate Route 3 of the application. Route 1 is for those individuals with a recognised qualification (such as APM-PPQ) and Route 2 is for those with a recognised qualification for Professional Practice and advanced technical knowledge and understanding.
Who is this course designed for – prerequisites
There are three routes to Chartered Project Professional. Route 1 is designed for those candidates who have a recognised qualification for the Advanced Knowledge aspects of the application, needing only to satisfy the Professional Practice aspects. Route 2 is for those candidates with a recognised qualification for Advanced Knowledge and Professional Practice. This course is intended to help those candidates for route 3 (although Route 1 & 2 may also benefit).
As a Route 3 candidate you will be required to show Advanced Technical Knowledge and Understanding and Professional practice of 10 of the 11 mandatory competencies and two from the list of elective competencies. It is expected that candidates at this level may have had some form of formal project management training to a level of IPMA Level D, APM-PMQ, PMI PMP, Prince 2 or similar although this may have been sometime earlier in their career.
Please note, that to satisfy the ChPP criteria, delegates will need to have at least 7 years of experience in a project delivery role.
The Programme Format and Structure
- The course is either two days in a classroom or 6 virtual webinars depending on the method you have booked. No more than 6 candidates will be allowed on the webinar courses, and no more than 8 on the classroom-based courses as there is a large degree of tutor involvement and coaching involved.
- The course includes an element of pre-reading, in the form of the official APM-PMQ study guide. This is not an examination course, but this book does wrap up a lot of the necessary knowledge and your tutor will refer to it along the way.
- During the course, your tutor will introduce you to the various topics necessary to complete your application. Each will be tackled in turn and each will then be the subject of some reflection by delegates to ensure that they have understood and are able to Critically Analyse their involvement in that area.
- Either after the webinar, or during the evening of a classroom course, you will be required to prepare your competence statements, and these can be reviewed the during the following morning / session. All 11 mandatory competences will be covered in detail. There will be one session where some of the elective competencies can be considered and these will be drawn from the needs of the group.
- Following the event(s) it is anticipated that the candidates will be able to build on the work done on the course and to prepare their own application. The fee for the course includes time for your qualified tutor to review the application and provide feedback via email. It may be possible to discuss the application over the phone as well.

In addition to these competencies, there will be opportunities to discuss with your tutor areas around your project track records, examples for your own application and other areas in general as necessary.
