Distance Learning For Individuals

Our APM Project Management Distance learning is a cost-effective and successful approach for many individuals. It provides a wider choice of courses than those available in your near vicinity so is suitable for those not living near large cities or towns. It is also much more flexible, allowing candidates to schedule learning at a time that suits them and fits in with other commitments; ideal for those who find it difficult to take time away from their workplace. It also allows candidates to work at their own pace, and revisit sections of the course as often as needed, leading to a fuller understanding of all the topics covered.

Pass rates of exams for professional project management qualifications are just as high for those attending distance learning courses as for traditional classroom courses. In addition, there are none of the high costs of travel and accommodation associated with courses at an external venue.

Corporate Blended Learning

corporate blended learning

Blended learning combines self-study with face-to-face workshops. This has the advantage of reducing time out of the office and a more flexible training environment. A typical programme is spread over 4 to 8 weeks with three or more face-to-face sessions during that time. The benefits of this approach are

  1. Less time out of the office.
  2. More time to absorb and reflect on the course contents.
  3. Structured homework and a mock exam.
  4. Supports a wide range of learning styles.

Our client case study with Turner and Townsend describes the advantages of this flexible approach to produce very high pass rates in the APMP qualification.

Virtual Classrooms

Many global organisations want to be able to offer the same training experience to people around the world. By combining distance learning with virtual classrooms in Adobe connect we can offer high quality remote training which is consistently delivered across the world. A typical virtual programme lasts six weeks, with one on-line 2 hour session per week. Adobe connect offers a highly interactive and flexible learning environment which can support the online and printed resources to provide a very effective training package. This has been a highly successful approach for the global consultancy organisation EC Harris and you can learn more about this in our client case study.

Public Courses

For those able to take time away from the workplace, we offer a variety of public training courses at our own training centres. These are suitable for individuals or small groups from the same organisation and are based on either the PMI BoK, APM BoK or PRINCE2. What sets Parallel courses apart are the highly realistic case-studies, interactive exercises and role-play. In small groups, these provide opportunities to practice and develop new leadership skills, attitudes and behaviours whilst leading to internationally recognised qualifications or accreditation. With highly experienced trainers who are all project management practitioners our public courses achieve consistently high exam pass rates.

Corporate Training

As well as distance learning packages we offer training courses delivered at your own premises. These can either be the same format as the range of public courses based on the PMI BoK, APM BoK or PRINCE2 or we can also develop training programmes specifically for your organisation. We have experience developing highly tailored courses with many well-known organisations. We take particular care to understand your culture and objectives so that our tailored courses provide both theoretical knowledge but, importantly, also practical skills, behavioural and leadership development to ensure your project managers will deliver better outcomes for all of your projects.
