About Bradford

Bradford is a city in West Yorkshire and the second largest city in the region after Leeds. Bradford has a rich industrial history that dates back to the 19th century, and it was once known as the wool capital of the world. As the long-time home of the National Science and Media Museum, Bradford is the first UNESCO City of Film in the world. It is also the largest attraction in the country dedicated to broadcast media, photography and the internet. Bradford has plenty to offer and is a great location to attend a project management course.

Bradford has two central train stations which connect the city to Manchester, London and further afield. They also connect Bradford to other destinations within the West Yorkshire area. Depending on the train, the journey from  London and Bradford takes between 2 hours and 30 minutes and 3 hours. The journey from Manchester takes around 1 hour.

Leeds Bradford Airport is just a few miles from the centre of the city, and as a growing airport, new destinations are constantly being added to the schedule, making it even more accessible by air. Good public bus services connect the airport to Bradford City Centre.

For those who are interested in driving to Bradford, it is important to note that since September 2022, there has been a Clean Air Zone in force. Bradford is well connected to the rest of the UK via the motorway system. The M606 links the city to the M1, A1 and M6 via the M62. For those visitors travelling to Bradford from the south, west or east, the M62 and the M606 Is the best choice.

Project management courses can last for a couple of days. Fortunately, there are plenty of options within Bradford for overnight accommodation. Here is a selection of 4-star hotels in the area.

Leonardo Hotel Bradford - formerly Jury’s Inn - BD1 2DH

Two hundred metres from the bars and shops of Bradford City centre, this hotel is about as central as you can get. Whilst the hotel does not have any guest parking, it is located very close to both of Bradford’s train stations, making it an excellent option for those coming by plane or public transport. It also has meeting rooms on site which makes it a good choice of venue for holding a project management course in Bradford. The hotel offers stylish and modern rooms with a number of accessible rooms available.

Great Victoria Hotel - BD1 1JX

Another very centrally located hotel, the Great Victoria Hotel, offers payable on-site parking for guests who prefer to bring their own vehicles; however, it is also very close to the station, making it a good all-around option. The rooms have all of the amenities that you would expect, and there are business facilities, including meeting rooms, available at an additional cost. The hotel is within easy walking distance of a number of restaurants and places of interest.

Cedar Court Bradford Hotel - BD5 8HW

If you prefer something a little less central, then Cedar Court Bradford Hotel could be a good choice. The hotel is just 2 minutes from the M606 and a short drive from the city centre. The hotel offers plenty of onsite parking, which is payable at a daily rate. They also have accessible parking. As you would expect from a hotel of this size, it also offers plenty of business facilities for those guests who need to keep in touch with the office. These all have an additional charge. There is an on-site restaurant, and the hotel is close enough to both Leeds and Bradford, where you will find plenty of alternatives for evening meals.

If you are staying in Bradford for a couple of days, then why not take advantage of some of the many things to do and places to eat that the city has to offer?

Restaurants

Bradford is a real melting pot of global cuisines, so you are certain to be able to find a restaurant to tempt your palate. Pizzerias and Indian restaurants top the bill of the most popular restaurants in the city, and there are plenty of both in a range of budgets and all offering their own specialities. There are no Michelin-star restaurants in Bradford itself; however, its proximity to Leeds and Harrogate means that there are a number of options within just a short drive. The Man Behind the Curtain, which can be found at 68-78 Vicar Ln, Leeds LS1 7JH, is a 1 Michelin-star restaurant offering a rather eclectic selection of dishes featuring unusual ingredient combinations. The restaurant is small and minimalistic, which helps to emphasise the dishes. There are a number of new additions to the Michelin Guide within the area, with a wide range of restaurants having attained the Bib Gourmand status within the last year.

Entertainment

Bradford boasts a thriving art scene that ensures those who visit will find plenty to keep them occupied during the day and into the evening. From traditional pubs offering a wide range of cask ales to trendy wine bars, there are plenty of places in Bradford to grab a drink to wrap up your day. You will also find a wide range of live music in many of these establishments. If you are looking for something altogether different, then why not head over to VR City? (BD1 3JH) Claiming to offer the most immersive and biggest Virtual reality experience anywhere in Yorkshire, they have something for everyone with VR Race Car experiences and over 100 VR games to choose from. There is also a VR Escape Room which would be great as a team experience. If you have ever fancied throwing an axe, then why not try Axe Bay Urban Axe Throwing (BD1 3JH) for a completely different experience that is both therapeutic and challenging? For something a little more cultural, the Alhambra Theatre (BD7 1AJ) offers a diverse programme of shows throughout the year.
