About Newcastle

Newcastle upon Tyne, or Newcastle, as it is more commonly called, is a city in Northern England situated on the River Tyne. Newcastle is famous for its heritage, culture and particularly its nightlife. From its foundation as a major industrial city, Newcastle has seen significant regeneration in recent years and has become the business hub of the Northeast. So if you are looking for an excellent location for project management courses Newcastle has everything you need.

Transport

Newcastle has an excellent transport network, making it very accessible for delegates. The city has a great train service and is linked directly to many big cities including London, a journey of 2 hours 50 minutes, Manchester, 2 hours 17 minutes and Edinburgh, 1 hour 23 minutes. The major road network means that Newcastle can be accessed by the A1 (M), which links it directly to London, the A69 from the west and the M6, which leads to the South, Wales and the West of England. Newcastle International Airport links the city to over 80 different destinations, and the comprehensive public transport system makes getting around the city incredibly easy. Eight miles east of the city centre, Newcastle can also be reached by an International Ferry Terminal, which is serviced by DFDS.

Some project management training courses can last several days, so you will want to find a hotel nearby to stay in for the duration of your course. Doncaster has a good selection of suitable 4-star hotels to consider.

Best Western Premier Mount Pleasant Hotel

The Best Western Premier Mount Pleasant Hotel is a superbly located hotel just 1 mile from Doncaster Sheffield International Airport and close to all of the main transport links. This is a country house hotel in a great tranquil location providing the perfect place to relax at the end of a day of learning. With free onsite parking and electric car charging points, the hotel is also ideal for anyone who prefers to bring their own transport. This hotel is also a good choice for anyone needing somewhere that is fully accessible.

The Earl of Doncaster – Bennetthorpe, Doncaster DN2 6AD

The Earl of Doncaster is the largest independent hotel in Doncaster. It is a superbly located hotel just 500 metres from both the racecourse and the town centre. It is easy to access from the rail station, which is 1 mile away, and the airport is a 15-minute drive. The great transport links to the town centre make this a very good choice of hotel. The hotel benefits from free Wi-Fi and free parking and has a superb selection of contemporary rooms. The onsite business centre and conference facilities make this a great base to also conduct a project management training course.

The Crown – Market Pl, High St, Bawtry, Doncaster DN10 6TJ

Located on the outskirts of Doncaster, the Crown Hotel in Bawtry is a quirky hotel with a great mixture of rustic charm and contemporary features. The hotel has plenty of facilities, including an onsite restaurant serving locally sourced produce. It benefits from free Wi-Fi and parking and also has conference rooms. It is just 3 miles from the airport, making it a very accessible option away from the noise of the town centre.

Meeting rooms

Not all of the hotels we have mentioned have meeting room facilities that can be used for training courses, but some people prefer to stay and separate their accommodation and training facilities. There are plenty of meeting rooms to hire in and around the Doncaster area that makes the perfect base for your project management training.

Workhere – 3 Cavendish Court, S Parade, Doncaster DN1 2DJ

Workhere is a brand new co-working workspace in the centre of Doncaster. Whilst it was originally conceived as a space to allow people to rent individual office space, it also has a range of meeting rooms that can accommodate between 4-10 people. With TV screens and Wi-Fi, these make a great base for project management training courses and are situated a very short walk from the town centre and all forms of public transport. There is also onsite parking.

Mercure Doncaster Danum Hotel

A centrally located 3-star hotel, the Mercure is ideally located for training courses. The hotel has been fully refurbished and has all of the facilities you would need. There are a range of meeting rooms that can accommodate groups from 4 all the way up to 60 people depending on the layout required.

If your project management training course will be taking place over several days, then you will want to find something to fill your evenings in Doncaster.

Restaurants

When it comes to restaurants, Doncaster offers a rather eclectic selection of cuisines from all over the world. With Indian, Mexican, Italian and Brazilian restaurants mingling nicely amongst bistros and seafood restaurants. Whatever you are looking there should be a restaurant to suit your taste buds, budget and style. If you fancy trying somewhere a little special, then, unfortunately, you will have to travel a little distance as the closest Michelin star restaurants to Doncaster are situated on the outskirts of Sheffield. However, Jöro offers an incredible menu that is worth travelling for. This stylish but simple Michelin star restaurant has tasting menus that mix Asian, New Nordic and British cuisine to create flavour sensations.

Entertainment

The social scene in Doncaster is on the quiet side; however, that doesn’t mean that there still isn’t plenty to do. Doncaster has a cinema and two good-sized theatres, including Cast. A jewel in the crown for Yorkshire, this very new venue offers a range of more contemporary offerings. There are plenty of pubs in and around the centre of the town, offering plenty of Yorkshire charm as well. In addition to the more traditional pub that you might expect, there are also a couple of bars that offer more specialised beers. The Ukrainian Centre in Doncaster is also home to The Roots Music Club, a venue offering music from Folk to Blues and beyond.
