Carmen Campos
As part of my current role as a training consultant, I felt that my personal experience of gaining chartered status would enable me to help other people to growth in their project management careers. Becoming a ChPP has given me an opportunity to make a difference and help people to progress professionally. It allows me to be part of their development journey through all the levels and qualifications from Project Fundamental (PFQ) and Project Management Qualification (PMQ) and up to ChPP level. Going through the process myself has also taught me the commitment and dedication required to successfully pass, which serves me well when trying to coach and support others to obtain ChPP in the future.
About Liverpool
The fifth most populous city in England, Liverpool, is located on the North-west coast of the UK. In its heyday, the city was a thriving industrial port. Nowadays, it is the main gateway for cruise ships. The city is well known as the birthplace of The Beatles, arguably the most influential band of all time. Its stunning and varied architecture includes The Liver Building at the Pier Head and its two Cathedrals. It is a very accessible location making it a good choice for a range of project management training courses.
Transport
Liverpool John Lennon Airport is considered to be one of the major transport hubs in the Northwest, it is connected to over 70 destinations in Europe, Africa and across the UK, and a short bus ride makes it easy to get from the airport to the city centre. The main train station in Liverpool is the Iconic Liverpool Lime Street Station which is a central hub for trains from all over the country, there are regular trains from Birmingham, Newcastle, Manchester and London, to name just a few. Liverpool is also easy to get to by car with some very good motorway links: the M60 links Liverpool to Manchester, and from the M60, it is linked to the south via the M5 and the north via the M6. Within Liverpool city centre there is a comprehensive public transport network that makes getting around very easy.
With many project management courses lasting several days, finding somewhere close by to stay is a necessity. Fortunately, Liverpool has plenty of fantastic four-star hotels to offer.
Innside by Melia, 43 Old Hall St, Liverpool L3 9PP
This incredibly contemporary hotel is superbly located in the centre of the city and just a short walk from the iconic Liver Building. All of the rooms are decorated in a modern, stylish manner and have all of the amenities you would expect from a hotel of this calibre. There is an onsite restaurant, and a business centre, and the hotel also offers a range of meeting rooms. Whilst there is no parking available at this hotel, it is well placed for one of Liverpool’s 4 underground train stations, making it a very good choice for those arriving by plane or train.
Titanic Hotel, Stanley Dock, Regent Rd, Liverpool L3 0AN
Another city centre hotel, The Titanic Hotel is a very modern one, offering a great base in the heart of the city. It is located on Stanley Dock, and despite its city centre location, this hotel does offer parking facilities for its guests, it also has some accessible parking and electric car charging points. For those who prefer not to drive in the city centre, it is also close enough to great public transport links. The hotel itself has plenty of facilities, from a wellness centre to a business centre for any essential work you may need to do during your project management course.
Seel Street Hotel by EPIC, 42 Seel St, Liverpool L1 4AU
If you are looking for a hotel in the heart of the city where accessibility is not a problem, then Seel Steet Hotel by EPIC is the ideal option. The hotel is close to all the necessary transport links and also offers some parking for its guests. In addition to a lift, they have a number of rooms that have been specifically designed to be more accessible for those guests with mobility issues. This hotel does not have meeting rooms for hire but makes an ideal base for staying in whilst on a training course in Liverpool.
Meeting rooms suitable for courses in Liverpool
Two of the hotels we have mentioned have large meeting room facilities that are available to hire for training courses. Whilst staying and attending a training course in the same hotel can be useful many people prefer to keep the two separate, and there are plenty of meeting rooms that can be hired in Liverpool.
Clockwise
Clockwise are a company which specialises in meeting rooms for hire all over the country. They have a number of Liverpool city-centre locations that are ideal for project management training courses and can accommodate small or large groups of attendees. All of their facilities are modern, bright and spacious and offer all of the equipment necessary to undertake a training course successfully.
Regus
Another company specialising in meeting rooms, Rebus, has four different sized meeting rooms in the city centre that make a great location for your training needs. Three of them are in the heart of the city whilst the 4th is located a little way out. 301 Tea Factory, is a very modern space with an industrial vibe. Clean, uncluttered spaces and contemporary furniture, together with a good range of all the technical equipment necessary for meeting and training courses, are provided as standard.
f your project management training courses in Liverpool last a couple of days or more, then you may want to take advantage of some of the nightlife that Liverpool is famous for.
Restaurants
With its rich and varied history as a port city, it comes as no surprise that Liverpool offers an incredibly wide range of different cuisines. In fact, Liverpool is home to the oldest China town in Europe, so you will certainly want to consider visiting one of the well-established restaurants.
It may surprise you to know that there are, in fact, no Michelin star restaurants in Liverpool. However, this is not to say that there are some restaurants serving incredible food that are well worth a visit. Of particular note is Roski Restaurant on Rodney Street. The restaurant serves modern British cuisine in the form of tasting menus full of smaller dishes made using locally sourced ingredients. The Art School on Sugnall Street is also worth a visit. This is a restaurant with a commitment to sustainable gastronomy. The dishes are modern and full of contrasts of texture and colour. The restaurant offers three different types of menus with a style to suit every palate.
Entertainment
No visit to Liverpool is truly complete without a trip to The Cavern. Possibly the most famous club in the world, The Cavern is host to a diverse range of music from midday until 11 pm every day, acts include local bands as well as plenty of tribute bands to the city’s greatest export, The Beatles.
Liverpool is also known for its association with the wonderful game of golf, so for something a little different, why not check out Ghetto Golf? This crazy alternative evening entertainment will see you trying to put your way around the most unusual crazy indoor course you will ever encounter with a drink in hand.
